Two Bits

of randomness....

I left my office at lunch for a little bit for fresh (and warm!) air. As I was walking I saw a girl talking and gesticulating wildly...to no one. Upon further examination I realized that she had a bluetooth headset on. But here's a little FYI to all you headset talkers -- I know the technology exists, but when I see you walking down the street talking to yourself, my first thought is "uh oh, cuh-razy!" Also, note to girl from today? The person you're talking to can't see the air quotes you just made. Just so you know.

I am such a child of the 80s. Who besides me went "SQUEEE" when they realized George Michael was going to be on American Idol last night? I know the guy has had his share of, um, arrests troubles, but I still love him. He was probably the first in a long line of gay boys that I loved until I found out what gay was. I was talking to some moms recently who had gone to a Bon Jovi concert and I was like "meh." But George Michael? Or Duran Duran? OMG, I am so there!!

I listened to his Faith album religiously. Regardless of his weird arre..er...troubles, they guy can still sing.

The woman who runs the cafe in my building has one of those gadgets. Drives me INSANE. Does she not know she looks ridiculous?

I like when I see parents dropping their kids off at daycare while using one of those things. Nothing says awesome parenting like continuing a conversation during the little time you have to spend with your kid.

Mike's car has that bluetooth u-connect where the phone connects with your car. You hear through the speakers and the mic is in the rearview mirror. It's great and easy but I STILL talk with my hands, and realize that I have NOTHING in my ear to indicate I'm talking to someone. Which means, in all likelihood, half of NJ thinks I'm insane.

I LOVED Duran Duran as a teenager. I had them plastered all over my bedroom wall. It was actually quite difficult for me to accept Power Station at first but then I came to love Robert Palmer.

And I'm guilty of air quoting someone over the phone. *hangs head in shame*

I hate those silly bluetooth thinger-bobers! They remind me of the Borg from the star trek movies.

George Michael rocks my world!! He is so hot.. err, I mean a wonderful singer!
I think every woman needs a gay man friend... he will really tell her how she looks in those tacky pants!

I hate those dumb blue tooths. What really bugs me is when they think everyone else needs to listen to their annoying converstion.

I'm still a little sad that George is gay, but I didn't think he was looking too good last night. Adam Ant is still the best, though.

I LOOOOVVVEEEDD Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go!" Is that pathetic or what? George's "Faith" won me over to his solo sound.

I love air quotes! And, I don't do GM, but Bon Jovi or Duran Duran? So there.

And then... weren't you just a little bummed that he looked like a thin, aging old Greek man? Because, I suppose he is.

I'm in complete agreement with your bluetooth comment. There have been a couple of times where I thought the crazy person was talking to me and I started answering back. Only to get that "what kind of weirdo are you" stare. Stupid bluetooth!

I actually went to a George Michael concert one time (with my MOM!--she's maybe one of his biggest fans). It was a blast! I don't care that he's gay. Fast Love is still a very hot song.

Ha! I had a huge poster of Georgie on my freshman dorm room wall. My new roommate, who knew what Gay was, was mortified.

I use my headset all the time and last night as I was getting out of the car, my husband totally thought I was I was talking to him but I was on the phone. So later he was like, but you said blah blah earlier and I was like huh? Oh I wasn't talking to you I was on the phone. :P

I was pretty excited about George Micheal, and I'm not even technically a child of the 80's. I was talking about him to my mom the other day, and she was all, "Who?" And I was like, "GEORGE MICHEAL! You know? Wham?" And she gave me this blank look. She's so behind on true American culture.
