Still here...still tired

Yeah, I know. Same old, same old. It's been a long weekend, though.

On Friday night we had an event at work. Which meant that I worked that day from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm, with only about a 30 minute break at 5:00. Oof! I came home at 10:00 and I was not quite ready to go to bed yet -- wanted to decompress a little first. But then I thought "Good lord, what am I doing? I'm beat " and I went to bed.

Saturday was spent working on our housing situation. We're going to be moving and I spent most of the day getting that lined up. I'll write more details later.

And today, well, today I'm going to be starting the moving process. You know how it goes -- one pile for the trash, one pile for Goodwill/Yard sale and one pile to take to the new digs.

BUT, I have the upcoming weekend to look forward to. I know it's only Sunday but I'm already living for Friday! We're heading south to Savannah for the Savannah Book Festival. Hopefully I'm going to get to meet John Berendt (he of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fame). Also, Mary Kay Andrews is going to be there and her books are usually a fun read.

Speaking of reading....I'm dying for a good book. Anybody got any suggestions?

Moving. Gah! I haven't read a book in ages. I mean, like a story. I did buy a copy of "Atonement" for my sister in law though. It's supposed to be good.

Don't even TALK to me about Atonement! GAH!! I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but sheesh Ian, did it have to end THAT way??

No good book suggestions, I'm starved for a good read myself.

I remember moving all too well. If I'd gotten rid of the stuff we did BEFORE the move we may not have needed a bigger house. Good lands, the things people collect!

Just got done with "T is for Trespass", Sue Grafton. Very good even if you haven't read the rest. Also finished "1,ooo Splendid Suns", Khaled Hosseini, this month. Liked it as much as "The Kite Runer."

I am reading an autobiography of Goldie Hawn, of all things. Not my usual fare, but I'm devouring it. She's interesting. It's called "Goldie: A lotus flower grows in the mud". Heh.

good luck with the moving stuff. Ugh.

Moving?! Details needed, please! That is a huge undertaking. No wonder you're tired. I'm tired just thinking about it.

Okay, YOU MUST READ These is My Words by Nanci Turner. It's not too well known, but I'm not kidding, if you don't LOVE it, I will eat my own arm. And someone has got to make that thing into a movie. It has one of the best female heroines I've come across in a long, long time. An actress would kill for that kind of role.

Okay...I'm stopping now. But seriously, buy it, read it...have I talked you into it yet?...really, finishing now...

Do you like historical fiction? If you do, I have a great book I can send you... It's called "The Teahouse Fire" by Ellis Avery...

Here's a link to a review (scroll down): http://www.boston.com/ae/books/articles/2007/02/08/teahouse_is_a_love_story_infused_with_japanese_historical_detail/

Let me know, OK?

P.S. sending you good vibes for the move...

Seems like all I read is books of the reference variety these days. I do enjoy Nick Hornby and Jennifer Weiner though, they are some of my favorite authors.

Moving!? Yuck! Although I am ready to have a new place I absolutely dread the thought of moving. Especially since we will mostly like be moving to a new city when it happens. :(

I've really been enjoying "Moo Moo Brown Cow" by Jakki Wood. It's a quick read since there are only about 10 pages. Good times, good times.

Good luck with the early move preparations. Better you than me at this point.

Reading? I only WISH that I had time for reading! I do have time for Savannah, though. When do we leave?

oh! just thinking about moving makes me tired! that entails cleaning to the n'th degree and I can barely do the 1st degree that keeps child protective services out of my home! ;)
Okay, this isn't the deepest books, but they are a lot of fun to read. I usually find myself laughing out loud at these book...a lot:
The Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross ( Miss Julia ).
