An Open Letter to the Girls in this Town

But first...bloggy awards!! Karen over at The Rocking Pony gave me these blog awards last week and I've either been too forgetful or too cranky to pass them on. It just didn't seem right to hand out bloggy awards when I'm feeling meaner than a striking snake (or a stripe-ed snake as my college roommate used to say.)

Anyway, here are the awards:

I'd like to pass these on to AndreAnna at Diary of a Modern Matriarch and Niki over at Impostor Mom. Thanks for being my friend, ladies!

Now, back to my letter...

Girls, for that's really what you are, it's February. I know, I know, we had some warm weather this weekend. Astonishingly warm really. And it can make things a little confusing. I get that. But this is Georgia, people. We all know it can be like this. Seventy degrees one day, 30 degrees the next. There is absolutely no reason that you should be outside in your little cheerleader shorts and t-shirts.

Okay, so you threw on some Uggs. I'll give you that. But I don't think that those extra three inches of fur-lined shoe is going to keep you warm. And you have to be doing it for the warmth, right? Please don't tell me that's actually the look you're going for. But I will have to say that at least you're not wearing the ever present flip flop that has taken over the world, though I did spy a couple of blue toes on you boys with your jeans and your flip flops.

Listen, I feel your pain. I really do. I'm just as sick of my winter wardrobe as you are of yours. My skin longs to feel the sunshine and the warm breezes, too. BUT. February. It is February, girls. There are no warm breezes. You are wishful dressing and you need to stop.

Here's a tip: www.weather.com. Bookmark it. Or if you want get your weather nerd on, go to www.noaa.gov.

Sincerely,
A Very Crotchety, PMS-ing, Only Slightly Green with Envy , Not-Young-But-Not-Yet-Old Woman

I wore my crocs today with socks. I was asked by my husband's boss in the grocery store if my toes were frostbit yet.

*hangs head in shame*

I won't be doing that again any time soon. We have snow.

I super-sympathize, as i sit in class with these girls. I actually think it's a 'look,' as there are waaay too many doing it for it to be accidental. The advent of the baggy, flimsy nike shorts over black running tights worn with Ugg(ly) boots is new this year. Curious to how that originated.

so you want me to put away my apple-bottom jeans and my boots lined with fur? :)

I remember the (long ago, and short-lived) days when fashion mattered to me more than climate. Like, that year I absolutely refused to wear socks. Because they were uncool. Even though it was upstate New York in the wintertime. Yeah.

Thanks so much for the award!

What is it with the Uggs these days? I mean I guess they are back in style because I see these girls wearing them EVERYWHERE. They are so ugly.

I used to think the same thing when I went downtown during winter and saw all these girls in their miniskirts and little shirts. Crazy man, I'm not sure there has ever been a time in my life where fashion won over climate. But I'm perpetually old even when I'm young. :)

Uggs are back? WTH? Why didn't someone tell me BEFORE I threw mine away? Oh wait, I never had any. THEY'RE TOO FREAKIN' UGLY.

Hey, Uggs go with everything. If you're a 20-something starlet.

Cheerleader shorts and Uggs would require that I shave my legs, which does not occur until around April or May in my neck of the woods.

No one likes the shorts with Uggs look. No one. It must stop.

Too funny!

I live in Michigan and I think people here are anxious for spring, too. It can be 20 degrees outside and you'll see people strolling around coatless and in short sleeves.

Sheesh... :)

I love how they wear bare all clothes with the knee high Uggs. NOT a good look.

And another things, girls - TUCK IN THOSE BRA STRAPS!!!

I live in Jersey and I've seen girls doing that here - the Uggs and mini-skirts in February. And no coats. I just want to go buy them some pants and sweaters.

I hate the whole Ugg thing, which is rampant here - even among women who are old enough to know better.
