Hair. Or the Lack Thereof

Today I got a great haircut and some bad news. My hairdresser is pregnant. I mean, I'm thrilled for her, but dang. She'll be working until October but I'm not 100% sure she'll be back. I think she will but I didn't want to ask because I didn't want it to seem like I was more interested in how her pregnancy would affect me. Even though I was. No, not really. Sort of.

Anyway, speaking of hair, last night at dinner Bubba cracked us all up. Mr. Daddy, being his usual silly self, asked the kids "Who's the handsomest, smartest, best looking Daddy?"

"You are!" the kids shouted.

"Only, Daddy?" Bubba said hesitantly, "You're just a little bit not handsome because you don't have any hair" Bubba said. We all died laughing and I think Mr. Daddy died a little inside. I told him we were now equal after Bubba told me my belly was a little bit fat.

I did, however, feel the need to take up for Mr. Daddy, just a little. "Bubba, I think Mr. Daddy is VERY handsome. I happen to find men with no hair very attractive."

Which started me thinking about the time I purse dialed Mr. Daddy while I was in New York for a trade show. Something in my purse hit my cell phone and dialed home and for a few moments Mr. Daddy thought I was being abducted and was attempting to signal him in some way.

Until he heard me say "I think Yul Brenner is sexy." Then he knew I was safe. Weird, but safe.

He still likes to give me grief about that one.

I feel ya on new hairdresser anxiety. Really I do - it's painful when you have to find a new one because you know it'll take a few crappy and miserable haircuts before you get a good one!

Good luck.

Couldn't get my comment to go through.

Anyhow...agree with you on the Yule Brenner thing and the hairdresser thing.

And I love Bubba...

I think Yul Brenner is a hottie too!

Oh, and can totally sympathize with the hair-dresser thing. It sucks when they take time out to have a life of their own!! Don't they know that they are depended upon!

Um, YEAH. When I got that news last winter the first thing I said was "Ccongratulations!", the second was "But what about my HAIR?"

See, that's why I can't have a regular hairdresser. I can't be having someone else's life interfere with my good hair days. It would be wrong.

Yule Brenner? Seriously?

My condolences on your hairdresser situation. You know I understand.

At least Mr. Daddy knows you weren't just trying to make him feel better since he'd heard your previous confession.

Also? That's why I always have a flip phone.

Why oh why do hairdressers think they need to have a life? Don't they live to hear about OUR lives? Sheesh. Sorry you have to have that unpleasantness...

Yul Brenner? Really? I guess when he was young... but now? He's just a really old dude.

My mom used to purse dial me all the time... Not so fun!

Hey you! I'm thinking that we have the same hairdresser karma!! I've lost my lost TWO hairdressers to pregnancy. Damn them and their babies. Oh, I kid. You don't happen to go to Bob's Salon, do you?
