The Best Laid Plans

I would love to be able to tell you that today's procedure was a piece of cake and went off without a hitch. But I can't tell you that. Because it didn't happen. The entire procedure didn't happen.

I guess you could say it was a bust. HA!

Seriously, I arrived at the hospital bright and early this morning only to be told that I couldn't have the MRI done because I was not at the right point in my cycle. She mumbled something about breast changes during different parts of your cycle, but all I heard was "it ain't gonna happen." The kind nurse informed me that my doctor's office should have known this and made my appointment accordingly, but since my doctor's office made my appointment six months ago, I'm pretty sure they had no freakin' idea where I'd be in my cycle on July 1st. Heck, half the time I don't even know where I am in my cycle.

So, I get to call in a day or so and reschedule and I get to dread the experience again! Joy!

Do you want to know what I did after my appointment was canceled? I went to a local coffee house and sat and read my book. Do you know what I did then? I went to Target and looked at whatever I wanted to. I browsed. I wandered aimlessly, wonderfully. I didn't have to "go this way, Mommy" or hear "I want that Power Ranger, Mommy." I mean, I did have to hear it from other people's children, but not mine! Bwahahahahaha! (small digression: I want to hereby postulate a theory that Target has become the go-to place for saving mothers' sanity. I saw so many moms and young kids and I think we all just go there to get the hell out of the house now and then. Target should totally take advantage of this. I mean, more than they already do.)

Then I had a delightful lunch with my mother and then I went shopping. Where I fit into a pants size smaller than normal because I have lost 7 pounds! Did I neglect to mention that? I'm surprised you all can't see the lights from the neon sign I put up over our house announcing my weight loss.

So, not the day I expected. Better. Much better.

I'm so glad you had a great day (even if that means rescheduling your date with the squish machine and smiley-face nipple stickers). Days like that are so incredibly rejuvinating because you get to do things on your own schedule and enjoy a few loves (reading, coffee, lunch with mom, shopping sans kids). Sounds like a perfect day to me. :)

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord & pass the ammunition. I mean, the tequila. Oh wait, I already have a drink. Is that why I have the Beastie Boys cranked loud enough for the neighbors to fume over my bass?

Well . . . at least you had fun. Isn't it amazing what can amuse you post-children? I find it almost erotically good to go to the grocery store alone.

Sucks about the re-schedule, though. I hope they can do it soon so you can get it over with.

First, CONGRATS on the weight loss!

Second, I have a hard time scheduling a regular trip to the gyno because my cycle has become so unpredictable. I'm sorry you have to wait again.

WOOHOOO!!!! Seven lbs is AWESOME!!! You go girl.

And yes. Target's new ad campaign: "Target! Savings mother's sanity one red and white aisle at a time". I am sad that its 30 minutes away now. (I still go of course...)

Oh brother; I would not like having to wait. Glad you could salvage the day.

Dang it, I wanted to see the smiley faces!

But at least you had a nice "kid-nagging-free" day.

Target WITHOUT kids is like a different place! But they should totally capitalize, you're right. They should have more double carts, for one thing! And a kids play area! And hot dogs...oh wait...

Woo-hoo! What a fantabulous day for you. (Other than knowing you've gotta go there again in the near future.) A pants size smaller is huge news indeed, and shopping child-free is bliss.

YAY for loosing 7 pounds, good for you. Target is totally where I went every single day I was on maternity leave. I just needed to get out of the house.

I find that on those lucky occasions that I have a moment to myself - I end up at Target too.
