The Tell Tale Cough

Thanks for all the well wishes for Punkin. She had a better night and seems to be on the mend, though now the croupy cough sounds a little more congest-y. We'll see.

But y'all. This coughing thing has got to stop. If the U.S. Government wants to break some terrorists, forget waterboarding. Just put them in a room with a bunch of coughing toddlers and pre-schoolers. They'll snap within five minutes and spill all their secrets.

At my house, someone, and sometimes someTWO, have been been coughing since October. We've been struggling to get a handle on Bubba's intermittent asthma since early fall. Finally on Tuesday I took him to our pediatrician and pleaded with him to have mercy on my ears and my sanity. He finally diagnosed him with persistent asthma and put him on Singulair. And I have to say, so far, it seems to be working -- though I probably just jinxed everything by saying that.

So one well, or almost well. Only one more to go!

That would be a very effective interregation method. We could just tie them up and stick them in the middle of a toddler daycare class. If the coughing didn't get them, the toddlers most certainly would.

Yes, we have been doing the same thing around here...its horrid! And now, im pretty sure they are actually better, but theyve learned that coughing at night gets mommy to come and visit them when they should be sleeping...so they are abusing the cough..and probably making themselves sicker...fun fun!

The first year that Logan was in school, it was one sickness after another around here. Finally this year things seem to be better, but I probably shouldn't say that out loud.

Hope they get well and stay well, and you all can enjoy the holiday.

I agree! just get a big gymnasium, stick all those guys from gitmo in there, and start filing in the coughing toddlers and preschoolers The large gym has the added quality of magnifying and echoing each and every cough.
and if we're lucky, those bad guys will get sick and be willing to spill more secrets, just for some cough medicine!

Ooh, that Singulair is wonderful stuff, isn't it? We had Micah on it for 2 winters. I forgot about it this year, thanks for the reminder.

Hopefully Punkin feels better soon, too. It does drive you loopy in a hurry, doesn't it?

Oh, I hope the coughing comes to an end soon for you. Coughing doesn't get to me nearly as much as "nasal talking" though. Like fingernails on a chalkboard!

Here's to everyone feeling better soon! :)

Oh, I"m super sorry!! I totally empathize. Fruit Bat only coughed like 4 times last night (after finally being put on antibiotics for an ear/sinus infection) and it was cause for celebration. Peace to the household!

I hope Punkin's cough is gone soon.

I don't think the jinx works if you type it. Just don't say it out loud! I'm glad they're on the road to recovery.

I hope you all (y'all) come out of it soon! I, too, can empathize. My son does the most horrid coughing. It seems to result from allergies, or when he catches a cold he always end up with these awful phlegmy coughs - yuck. And then he doesn't sleep well, and I don't sleep much at all.
