So, first of all, last night I slept in my own bed. As Mir so aptly put it the comments, it's a miracle! And it was heaven.
But then, THEN, we woke up. And we had to rush around like mad people, looking in and around and amongst boxes for clothes, shoes, an Easter basket, the #$*^*$#) trash bag (forget the can, just find me something to put some trash in!)
As I'm walking out of my bedroom, I hear Punkin crying. It's not hysterical crying, but it's not quite her usual whine either. There is a slight note of urgency to it.
I walk into her room to find her flat on her back on the floor, arms and legs flailed out, her 4 ft tall white bookcase looming over her. About a foot from squashing her like grape.
I quickly assessed the damage -- there didn't appear to be any, unless you count Punkin's mental state. To say that she was a little freaked out would be an understatement. Fortunately, the bookshelf was empty and our glider rocker and a couple of boxes were in front of it and kept the bookcase from landing on her.
After a quick scolding and a lecture about why we don't climb our bookcases AND a hug, we all went on our merry way. Well, maybe not merry -- there's too much crap everywhere for anybody to be truly merry. But hey! All that crap saved mah bay-bay, so I guess it's not all bad.

Eeek! Thank goodness for a few boxes of stuff. Getting squished by a bookcase probably doesn't qualify as "good" for a kid.
Oh geez! That is like my nightmare! So many kids get hurt (or eeek, worse) because of things falling on them.
I read one story once that made me promptly have my husband tether everything climbable to the walls. (too morbid to discuss) They make cheap straps that go behind the furniture so you can't see them.
So glad she's okay! and that you got to sleep in your own bed! woot!
oy! that reminds me that all our bookcase tethers are sitting in a cabinet waiting to be installed. While Gavin isn't much of a climber, I'm not real sure I want to find out the hard way that Cooper is.
Glad to hear Punkin is relatively ok...hope you get everything squared away and put away soon.
Oh, my! This reminds me of about 2 years ago when (unknown to me) T-Rex decided to pull open his top dresser drawer. Apparently, he pulled really hard because next thing I know his sister is running downstairs to tell me to come quick. He had his arm pinned between the dresser and the bed, which had stopped the dresser's fall. The episode left a little mark on his arm... and one hyperventilating mother.
Glad Punkin's ok! (and you, too, by now)
poor punkin! give her an extra squeeze for me....
Glad she's ok!
Yikes! Thank goodness for crap in the way. This gives me good reason not to clean the house on a regular basis.
Bookcases. They can be so wicked. Glad she's okay.

I'm giggling, cause I was a big time climber, too. Who says girls don't climb. And, other than a few permanent scars, no harm done :) Glad she's okay.
Yikes! That was a close one. A bookcase full of thick heavy law books fell on my husband when he was a kid. He managed to only break a couple of fingers. Interestingly enough he was climbing it because he knew the PAAS egg coloring kit was hidden on the top.
Glad she's alright.
another Easter miracle! so glad Punkin is okay. have a fab weekend in the new place...finding your trashbags. I may never move again. this place is so filled with crap that just cleaning up makes me want to take to my bed. for a few years.
