Mishmash

We had a great weekend, though it was quite busy. On Friday night we went to a pool party for the children's ministry at our church. Though I was quite confident to attend a swimming party last summer, this summer I was a little more hesitant. Of course, I've gained back most of the weight I lost last year. As I told my friends, I'd much rather wear my swimsuit in front of strangers than in front of people I actually know. But when neither of your children can swim and your daughter looks at you with pleading eyes and says "please swim with me, mommy," you really have no choice but to get in the pool.

On Saturday, Mr. Daddy and I attended a wedding in my hometown that was held in the very same church we got married in. And in fact, our anniversary was yesterday. It was kind of neat being back there, seeing another young couple heading out into the wilds of marriage. I thought of several pieces of advice that I started to write in their card, but ultimately wrote "wishing you much love" which I think pretty much covers all the bases.

I'm thinking of doing a little housecleaning on this here blog. I'm thinking of doing away with my blogroll. It's not because I don't love you guys, but it's kind of outdated -- some of the blogs are inactive -- but I don't want to just clean it up because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. What are your thoughts? I hardly ever click on anyone else's blogroll. If anything, I'll click through from a funny comment. I don't know, just a thought.

Hope y'all had a good weekend too.

I am always tempted to write something "helpful" on wedding cards, too. Maybe because I could have used some advice way back then. And then I remember that no one could have told me anything anyway. Like you, the best I can do is wish them love (and a little luck, I suppose.) Funny, isn't it. How marriage is just something you must experience.

As for the blogroll...I don't know. Mine is just there for my convenience. I know. I know. I'm soooo outdated! I got to get with the google reader. I'm just lazy. I like those with the update info, and thought about updating mine to that...then I was lazy.

So, my hat's off to you for sprucing.

I blew up my blogroll and made a "mini blog" instead with it. I post 3 or so blogs I like each week, along with an explanation. That way, if a link goes dead, it doesn't matter. And, if I don't have someone listed, it's not necessarily because I forgot, I just may not have gotten there yet. So far it's working out, although I haven't checked to see if people are using it yet.

I found one of my favorites through your blog roll (Piece of Cake) so I can attest that at least me uses them on blogs:).

However - I do love the blogs that highlight a few each week that they love. Ultimately once I find ones I like, I subscribe through google reader and don't need your blog roll anymore!

Happy anniversary! Hope you two had a great day!

I have never had a blog roll. The few times I tried to create one using whatever website one could do it in, I always messed it up, so I just scrapped it for good and never looked back. For me, I've very rarely wandered off someone's blog roll and into another blog. I've always tended to gravitate toward a new blog based on the comments a writer leaves, then, if I find I'm returning often, I'll add that blog to my reader. I've found that's been a great way for me to go exploring!

I never had a blogroll because I would be afraid of hurting someone's feelings by excluding them, but then again, some blogs are truly awful.

I actually love going through other people's blogrolls when I'm looking for a new read every now and then. But for some reason, I don't have one of my own. It's just a lot of work keeping it updated. And not huring feelings.
