Haiku for Summer Camp

Today is Bubba's last day at the Y, finishing up his 3rd year there. He loves it just as much today as he did on his first day there 3 years ago when he got in the car and said "I had the best day ever!"

The last day of camp
high fives, phone numbers exhanged.
See you next year!

Taking it REALLY public

This is a test. This is only a test of the blogging broadcast system. I'm taking my blog public -- very public. Like Facebook public.

I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of scary, but it's kind of exciting too. I'm hoping it makes me write more. We'll see. Santa, that laptop I asked for would make thing sooo much easier. And I've been a very good girl.

Since today is Friday, I'll post one of my haikus below.

A half day today,
Freedom to nap, drink cocoa.
Time with the kiddos.

Boot Camp Haiku

Sweat pouring like rain,
Muscles burning like brush fire.
It hurts; hurts so good.

Friday Haiku: Play Ball!

Back when I first started blogging there was a blogger (or two?) who started a meme -- the Friday Haiku. I loved it, for one because I always knew what I was going to post on Friday and two because I loved the challenge of fitting whatever I wanted to talk about into the strict Haiku format.

I don't know if the Friday Haiku is still a "thing" or not, but I'm going to start doing it because I think it's fun. I had planned to write today about Bubba's baseball practice last night and I'm still going to do it, just in haiku.

Warm metal bleachers,
making thin lines on my thighs.
Bees buzzing my ears.

Ten eight year old boys
run hither and yon to catch
balls just out of reach.

Dust clouds follow them.
Dirt and grass on skinny knees.
Sweat trickles on brows.

Eager to learn rules,
soaking them up like a sponge.
Perfecting their skills.

Mom, dad, sis, watching,
cheering while offering tips.
"Get your elbow up!"

All American.
Baseball, Mom and apple pie.
So proud of my boy.

Beautiful

Haiku Friday

Rain is gone. Sun's up.
Rays peek through the trees, as though
Heaven has opened.

Glad to be alive--
Hope springs eternal -- this is
the good life I've got.

Happy Friday, everyone!

A Haiku for Mom

Haiku Friday

A mom of all trades.
Gestator, birther, nightly
waker, breast feeder.

A bottle scrubber,
spoon feeder, spit-up wiper,
Snot sucker -- (the bulb!)

Pee target, fever
checker (rectal!), butt wiper.
A boo boo kisser.

Broken heart mender,
Shoulder to lean on, snuggler.
Story, song master.

We give our all, n'er
asking for more than a hug.
So, go hug a mom.

Happy Mother's Day!

Home Sweet Home. And Internet. And Television.

Haiku Friday

Boxes almost gone.
Settle in. Let's get comfy.
This is our new home.

Posting from my own
computer. Ahhh, heaven, right?
And so much faster.

The cable guy will
hook us up on Saturday.
Connected again.

Haiku Friday

In honor of Bubba:

Yuck. Gross. Disgusting.
I don't want to hear those words.
Don't like it? You cook.
